MacPaw's Eney AI assistant for macOS debuts in Setapp beta with privacy & app integrations

MacPaw has launched Eney, an AI-powered assistant now available in public beta for Setapp users on macOS. Eney is visually present on the edge of the Mac display, activating when the cursor approaches, and interacting with users via a chat window for commands, queries, or suggested prompts. The assistant processes all data locally.

Eney offers features such as file format conversion, YouTube or video summarization, image background removal, checking the weather, and performing currency and unit conversions. It can also retrieve system information like storage, RAM, or CPU usage without needing to open additional system tools. The AI assistant integrates with MacPaw’s tools and select Setapp apps like CleanMyMac and ClearVPN, supporting natural language input, memory, and contextual understanding across multi-step prompts. It also includes a "wand" feature that lets users select specific screen areas to request targeted assistance.

Planned updates include expanded Setapp library support, an "Expert Zone" for generating code for unsupported tasks, and developer resources for creating custom Eney skills. Setapp users can join the waitlist for early access or submit feedback on Eney’s performance.
