Appwrite Sites launches open-source web hosting with static and SSR support
Appwrite has introduced Appwrite Sites, an open-source web hosting platform positioned as an alternative to Vercel and Netlify. Developers can now build, deploy, and host both static and server-side rendered projects using popular frameworks such as Next.js, Nuxt.js, SvelteKit, React, and Astro Web Framework, all managed entirely within the Appwrite ecosystem.
Following the launch, Appwrite Sites allows automatic deployments from GitHub repositories, generating unique preview URLs for every pull request. Sites provides a global content delivery network alongside built-in protection against distributed denial-of-service attacks.
In addition, Appwrite Sites offers native DNS management through appwrite.zone nameservers and can be managed from the Appwrite Console or command-line interface, supporting both the Appwrite Cloud and self-hosted environments. The platform includes a library of one-click deployable templates for frameworks such as Docusaurus and ReactAdmin, quick-start guides for popular libraries, and customizable build settings. Appwrite Sites will remain free until July 1, 2025, with pricing details to follow.
