Airbnb app redesign adds services booking, trip planning, and upgraded messaging
Airbnb has launched a comprehensive redesign across both its user and host interfaces. The update introduces an Explore tab to the app homepage, offering recommendations for homes, experiences, and services. Alongside this, a new Trips tab allows users to organize their full itineraries—including stays, planned activities, and services—directly within the app.
With this release, Airbnb expands beyond accommodations by launching Airbnb Services. Users can now book personal chefs, trainers, stylists, massages, catering, and spa treatments, with options spanning ten service categories. Notably, these services are available even without a reservation for lodging. All providers must complete identity verification and submit required licenses or certifications; most have around ten years of experience in their specialties. Pricing starts under $50 for entry-level services, with rates varying based on the provider and service complexity.
Airbnb Experiences have also been refreshed, now featuring options like host-led city tours and unique activities such as learning Mexican wrestling with a luchador. Those interested in offering services or experiences can now apply as providers. Complementing the redesign, Airbnb’s messaging platform has been improved to support both photo and video sharing.
