Spotify expands AI playlist feature to 45 countries for premium users
Spotify has expanded its AI Playlist feature to over 40 countries, following its initial rollout in the US, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. This feature remains in beta and is currently exclusive to Spotify Premium users. To use the AI Playlist, users need to set their app language to English, navigate to the library tab, tap the plus button, and select "AI Playlist."
The AI Playlist enables users to create custom playlists by typing prompts like "Give me some funky and upbeat songs to help me unpack my boxes in my new home." It recognizes prompts related to genres, moods, artists, animals, activities, movie characters, colors, and emojis, allowing for a more intuitive music discovery process through conversational language. However, it does not support prompts based on non-music topics such as brand names or current events, and Spotify has incorporated safeguards to prevent inappropriate or offensive prompts. Spotify also offers pre-filled prompt suggestions to help users effectively interact with the AI.
The feature is now available in countries including the UK, Australia, Philippines, South Africa, Nigeria, Jamaica, Singapore, and many others, totaling 45 countries like Antigua and Barbuda, Malta, Fiji, Ghana, Papua New Guinea, and Zambia. You can see the full list of supported countries here.
