Plex rolls out redesigned mobile app with enhanced features and unified media integration

After unveiling a preview last November, Plex has now finally begun rolling out its redesigned mobile app for Android and iOS, with full availability expected within a week. The update introduces a new navigation system for easier access to sections and content discovery, along with a dedicated tab for centralized media libraries. A new button in the top-right corner offers quick access to the Watchlist.

The redesign also features more artwork on detail pages for movies and shows, as well as cast and crew profiles. Performance improvements include faster load times and smoother scrolling, while new features like a sleep timer and picture-in-picture support enhance multitasking capabilities. Future updates will enable users to download entire seasons and cast to more devices, with UI improvements for ratings and reviews in development.

Additionally, Plex is working on a revamped TV app, currently in testing. This redesign follows Plex's recent announcement of a Plex Pass price increase to $6.99/month starting April 29th, with a subscription soon required for streaming content away from home, which has stirred controversy among users.
