Microsoft has made Copilot Vision free on Edge, enabling voice control over page content

Microsoft has officially launched Copilot Vision for all Microsoft Edge users, making it free to use with a Microsoft account. This new tool allows Copilot to understand on-screen content and respond to voice prompts, creating a conversational experience without manual input. Initially launched as an experimental feature in October and later as a Copilot Pro preview, it is now accessible without a subscription.

To use Copilot Vision, users must activate it through the Copilot sidebar by clicking the microphone icon. The tool can assist with various tasks, such as guiding users through recipes or analyzing job descriptions for interviews, although it does not directly interact with content like clicking links. Copilot Vision is not available on pages with harmful or adult content, those behind logins, or unsupported sites, which are marked by a grayed-out icon with crossed eyeglasses. Microsoft ensures that no screen content or user inputs are stored, only Copilot's responses are logged for safety monitoring, and all data is deleted after a session ends or the browser is closed.

To try Copilot Vision, users need to sign into Edge with their Microsoft account and opt in on the specified Microsoft page. A chime and a slight color change in the browser indicate when a session is active.

Its design makes me feel like I'm using a period tracker.

So selfless of them! They're always making sure customers are #1.... for unlimited data harvesting, marketing, and garden-walling.

Honestly the tech is great, but the greed causing distrust is their corporate culture.

Also, it only works on Edge on Desktop (and not on mobile, that need a Pro subscription) and with personal Microsoft account, and doesn't require Copilot PCs (since all data is sent to Microsoft).
