Visual Studio Code 1.98 brings GitHub Copilot enhancements, Linux custom title bar, & more

Microsoft has announced the release of Visual Studio Code version 1.98, introducing several new features and improvements. Among the highlights is the preview of Next Edit Suggestions, where GitHub Copilot predicts likely next edits, and Agent mode, which allows Copilot to autonomously complete tasks. Code search capabilities have been enhanced, enabling Copilot to find relevant files based on chat prompts.

Additionally, Copilot Edits for notebooks are now available to facilitate rapid iteration on notebook edits. Terminal IntelliSense, also in preview, offers rich completion support within the terminal. Users can now drag and drop references to open peek references in a new editor easily.

For Linux users, custom title bar support is now enabled by default. The update also introduces a prompt for unresolved diagnostics when committing code and a soft-delete feature in source control, moving untracked files to trash rather than deleting them. Custom instructions for GitHub Copilot are now generally available, allowing for tailored usage.

Visual Studio Code 1.98 also includes numerous other enhancements and bug fixes, as detailed in the release notes.
