PowerToys 0.89.0 update adds new media transcoding capabilities to the Advanced Paste tool

Microsoft PowerToys has released PowerToys v0.89.0, introducing several bug fixes and featuring new updates, especially for the Advanced Paste tool. In addition to its existing text and image conversion capabilities, it now features media transcoding, allowing users to convert audio and video formats directly from the clipboard without extra software. This enables easy format changes, such as AAC to MP3 or WAV, and video conversions that reduce file size or improve compatibility.

The update also resolves a bug that prevented the creation of shortcuts from MSI files due to the PowerLauncher EXE. Additionally, the Always On Top utility has received an 18% performance boost through logger function optimizations. Accessibility enhancements have been made to improve compatibility with screen readers for FancyZones and Image Resizer.

PowerToys Run has also been stabilized to reduce crashes, particularly in dark mode and when loading image thumbnails. A fix for angle unit conversions in the PowerToys Run calculator is also included, and ZoomIt no longer shows error warnings during build.
