Microsoft launches a native Copilot app for Windows replacing the old web wrapper version
Microsoft has introduced a native version of the Microsoft Copilot app for Windows, transitioning from its previous web wrapper version. This new iteration uses native XAML, enhancing both performance and integration with the native Windows operating system. There's new side panel for quick access to previous conversations, and the app's design now mirrors that of the recently released macOS version, supporting features such as image uploads and text or image generation.
Additionally, microphone support has been integrated, allowing users to interact with Copilot via voice commands. Keyboard shortcuts, including an alt+spacebar shortcut, provide quick access to Copilot. Users can also customize startup settings to determine whether Copilot launches automatically with Windows.
Currently, the rollout is exclusive to Windows Insiders via the Microsoft Store, with plans for a broader release to all Windows 11 PCs in the coming weeks.
