Google expands Whisk, its AI image remixing tool, now available in over 100 countries
In December 2024, Google launched Whisk, an AI-powered image remixing tool, as part of Google Labs, initially available in the US.
Unlike traditional AI image generators that use detailed text prompts, Whisk allows users to drag and drop images to define the subject, scene, and style. Users upload three images, and Whisk combines them into a new creation. Google's Gemini AI generates text-based prompts from these images, processed by Imagen 3, Google's latest image generation model. Designed for rapid visual exploration, Whisk is more of a creative tool than a traditional image editor.
Due to its growing popularity among artists and creatives, Google has expanded Whisk's availability to over 100 countries, including major markets like the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, South Korea, and more. However, it remains unavailable in the UK and India. Users in eligible countries can experiment with Whisk at labs.google/whisk. While Google acknowledges that outputs may not always meet expectations, Whisk offers options to edit and refine generated prompts.
