VLC 3.0.22 adds Dark Qt Mode, AMD Frame Rate Doubler, and Codec improvements
VLC 3.0.22 arrives after eighteen months of development and introduces a dark palette option for the Qt interface on Windows and Linux. The update adds build support for Qt6 while keeping Qt5 compatibility to ensure the 3.0 branch remains workable on modern systems.
Windows users gain native ARM64 builds and restored support for older platforms such as Windows XP SP3, along with the ability to rename, move, or delete the file currently being played. Hardware support expands with AMD Frame Rate Doubler for Direct3D11, and codec handling improves through updated support for A_ATRAC and AT1 in Matroska containers and the default shift to libavcodec.
Playback reliability receives fixes for FLAC seeking, JPEG rendering, VOB and LPCM detection, and very short ASF files. Additional improvements include corrected XVID MPEG 4 hardware decoding on macOS, better ProRes and Matroska handling, increased demuxer stability, and refinements for KDE and UPnP integration.
