OpenAI launches new GPT Image 1.5 model with faster editing and Apple Music integration

OpenAI has begun rolling out GPT Image 1.5, its latest image generation model, following the recent release of GPT 5.2. The model is available in ChatGPT and via the OpenAI API, delivering image generation speeds up to four times faster than before, reducing wait times especially during peak usage and on the free tier. The update arrives amid growing competition from Google, as Gemini Nano Banana Pro has driven a surge in Gemini usage and strong benchmark performance.

ChatGPT Images now adds more advanced post production style controls to keep visual consistency across edits. These tools help preserve facial likeness, lighting, composition, and color tone through multiple iterations. The model also follows edit instructions more accurately, allowing users to add, remove, combine, blend, or transpose elements. Text rendering has improved as well, with better support for denser and smaller text than earlier versions.

OpenAI is also introducing a dedicated Images section in the ChatGPT sidebar, featuring preset filters and prompt suggestions. GPT Image 1.5 is rolling out to all users starting today, while GPT 4o remains available through custom settings. Alongside this update, OpenAI announced upcoming Apple Music integration, which will let ChatGPT create music recommendations and playlists that open directly in the Apple Music app on desktop and iOS.

This is fantastic news! 4x faster image generation and those advanced post-production controls for consistency sound like game-changers. It's awesome to see how much more powerful GPT Image 1.5 is becoming, especially with its ability to deliver such detailed, high-res visuals without watermarks. Can't wait to try it!

You know it's not bad, but it's also not the best... OpenAI was not ready to compete. Hopefully image-2 isn't too far out.
