Unity and Epic Games have announced a partnership to bring Unity games to Fortnite

Unity and Epic Games have unveiled a partnership that will allow Unity games to run within Fortnite, opening up new opportunities for both developers and players. Developers using Unity will soon be able to publish their games directly into the Fortnite ecosystem, which boasts over 500 million registered accounts. They will also gain access to the Fortnite Creator Economy, providing more ways to monetize content and reach Fortnite’s enormous user base.

Building on this integration, Unity is introducing Unreal Engine support to its cross-platform commerce platform. This update, available early next year, will let Unreal developers manage digital catalogs, payment providers, and web shops for PC, mobile, and web projects using familiar tools. The platform will also simplify pricing, promotions, and live operations for Unreal Engine-based games.

Further details regarding this collaboration — along with precise timing for these features — will be released in the upcoming year, as both companies work to expand their partnership.

Honestly, I didn't understand anything. Given they own competitive Game Engines, what is even happening here.
