Grok 4.1 launches free for all users with improved accuracy and faster performance

xAI has just released Grok 4.1, now available for free on grok.com, X, and both iOS and Android. Users can select it directly or let Auto mode handle it. The model was quietly deployed for two weeks before launch and outperformed the previous version in 65 percent of blind preference tests.

The update puts Grok 4.1 at the top of the LMArena Text Leaderboard with 1483 Elo in its reasoning mode quasarflux and 1465 Elo in the fast tensor mode, a 31 point lead over any non xAI model. It also posts 1586 on EQ Bench3 and 1722 on Creative Writing v3, a 600 point gain over xAI’s earlier best.

Grok 4.1 cuts factual hallucinations to one third of the previous rate and delivers faster responses, a more consistent personality, and better output in emotional roleplay and writing tasks. xAI attributes this to training that focuses on intent detection, personality coherence, and autonomous reward modeling, aiming for stronger reasoning, creativity, empathy, and fewer nonsensical replies.
