1Password adds device-based unlock and new security presets for Mac and Windows

1Password now offers a device based unlock option for Mac and Windows that lets the app open automatically through the system’s authentication methods, including Face ID, Touch ID, PINs, or passwords. The feature is optional and reduces repeated authentication when users return after short breaks, while relying on the device’s hardware for identity verification.

The update also adds three security presets that control how often the app locks, with settings managed separately on each device. A new security review prompt explains these options and may suggest creating a recovery code as a backup if users lose access to their password or trusted device.

Mobile versions already support device based unlocking but only reopen automatically within ten minutes of last use. The new features roll out first to Individual and Family accounts, while Business and Enterprise customers will receive them later through a separate update that requires administrator approval.

Nice. I prefer Bitwarden but for a closed source password manager, 1password isnt bad. Still wouldnt recommend it though because its closed source.
