Google is bringing Gemini AI to Drive on Android and iOS for easier file summarization

Google has expanded Gemini AI integration to its Google Drive apps for Android and iOS, following its earlier web release. This update brings collaborative features directly to mobile users, letting them access Gemini's conversational tools and productivity enhancements without relying on the desktop version.

With this integration, Drive mobile users can now ask Gemini questions about their files and folders and receive conversational responses, just as they can on Drive's web version. These new capabilities mean users can interact with their document content in a more fluid, natural way on their phones or tablets.

Building on these enhancements, Gemini in the Drive mobile app can summarize long documents or even entire folders, helping users quickly extract main points. Additionally, it allows synthesizing information from multiple files for complex topic discussions and fetching quick facts about projects without opening every file individually.

The updated Gemini features in Google Drive mobile began rolling out on September 22, 2025. Google notes that the integration will appear for users progressively over the following weeks, so some users may not see the changes immediately.
