xAI to launch new voice mode in Grok with dual voice models, powered by ElevenLabs
xAI is reportedly working on a new voice mode for its Grok app on iOS, integrating its proprietary voice model alongside a model from ElevenLabs. This feature, though present in the latest app version, remains inaccessible to users due to feature flags.
A new icon will appear in the prompt bar, offering a unique interface for voice connections. The interface features a central button that doubles as a mute control and connection status indicator. Users can select between the Grok and ElevenLabs voice models, with four initial voice options available for customization. A
Search toggle suggests potential real-time data access, though the feature is still under development and non-functional. The voice mode is anticipated to be part of the forthcoming Grok 3 release.

Comments
ElevenLabs is outstanding, but the price is rough, especially for non-coemrical... wondering if this will be a way to use ElevenLabs non-commercial without having to use their reader app that doesn't have a version that runs on desktops natively.
