Thunderbird 134 has been released with real-time notifications and many bug fixes

Thunderbird has released version 134 of its open source email client, following the stable 128 “Nebula” release several months ago. This version, not intended for general use, provides a preview of potential features in the next stable release. Available for testing on Windows 10+, macOS 10.15+, and Linux, version 134 introduces a notification system for real-time desktop alerts for new mail, ensuring that important messages never go unnoticed.

Significant interface fixes include correct in-app notification display in dark mode, consistent alignment of the close button across platforms, and accurate folder display for new email notifications. Technical corrections address issues such as potential crashes with POP3 and newsgroup header downloads, display problems in XMPP discussions, and performance issues with CalDAV calendars without offline mode support. Additionally, the update resolves an issue where new emails in POP3 accounts could appear without headers.

Furthermore, Thunderbird 134 also features visual and user experience (UX) improvements, security patches, and various other enhancements to improve stability and usability.
