Open source desktop publishing software Scribus releases v1.6.3 with numerous bug fixes
Scribus has released version 1.6.3 of its open source desktop publishing software, primarily addressing bug fixes. This update resolves an issue where the width in the color management menu increased with repeated use, alongside fixes for item attributes and spin box functions. A crash fix is included for opening PDF documents with text import options. Various GUI issues are addressed, such as non-responsive fields, and problems with guide and baseline color preferences. The update also rectifies corrupt PDF generation, external drive detection issues in file management, and issues with the “Update Image” functionality and shortcuts.
Additional fixes include restoring frames and bookmarks, improvements in CMYK image import, and updating non-HTTPS URLs. A crash related to undoing paragraph deletions in Story Editor has been resolved, and compilation issues with newer Poppler versions have been addressed. Image export quality settings see improvements, and new Python functions for unit conversion, baseline adjustments, and text styling are introduced.
While Scribus 1.6.x remains stable, future development will now focus on version 1.7.x with new features and Qt6-based enhancements.
