Microsoft expands "Think Deeper" to free Copilot users with limited weekly access

Microsoft is expanding its AI capabilities by testing the "Think Deeper" feature with some free Microsoft Copilot users. Previously exclusive to Copilot Pro subscribers, "Think Deeper" employs advanced reasoning models to deliver detailed, step-by-step answers.

Launched in October 2024, the feature uses OpenAI's o1 Strawberry model to break down prompts and consider multiple scenarios before responding. Initially part of Copilot Labs, "Think Deeper" provides thoughtful responses but lacks real-time web data, with a knowledge cut-off of October 2023.

Free users can check for access by visiting copilot.microsoft.com and looking for the "Think Deeper" toggle, marked by an animated spiral icon. Usage is limited to three times per week for free users. Those who reach their limit can either continue with regular Copilot or opt for a one-month free trial of Copilot Pro.
