GitHub enhances issue management with sub-issues, issue types, and advanced search options

GitHub has recently rolled out enhancements to its issue management system, introducing sub-issues, issue types, and advanced search capabilities. Sub-issues enable users to decompose tasks into a parent-child hierarchy, facilitating progress tracking and workload assessment. Issue types provide a standardized classification system across repositories, aiding in the management of bug backlogs and project initiatives.

The new advanced search functionality allows users to construct complex queries using AND, OR, and parentheses, enhancing the precision of issue filtering. These updates are integrated into a revamped front end, which maintains familiar UI patterns while incorporating performance improvements. Users can toggle between the updated and previous experiences via the feature preview page on their GitHub accounts.
