Spotify launches AI Playlist Builder for Premium subscribers in the US and more countries

Spotify has expanded its AI playlist builder feature to users in the US, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. Initially launched in the UK and Australia, this feature is now available exclusively to Spotify Premium subscribers.

Accessible through the Spotify mobile app, users can find the AI Playlist feature by tapping the “+” button in their Spotify library. Upon selecting “AI Playlist” from the drop-down menu, users can describe the type of playlist they want in a chat box, using thematic prompts like “spooky songs to play during Halloween.” The AI generates playlists of 30 songs based on these descriptions, which can be fine-tuned with additional prompts. The quality of the playlists improves with more detailed descriptions, including specifics such as genres, decades, moods, or artists.

Spotify notes that the feature is still in beta, with ongoing development based on user interactions. Currently, the AI Playlist feature is available only on mobile devices, with no access through Spotify’s desktop or web apps.
