PeerTube 6.3 brings audio-only streaming, simplified downloads, and enhanced subtitles
PeerTube has released version 6.3 of its decentralized video sharing platform, the final minor update before version 7. This update introduces the capability to separate audio and video streams, enhancing flexibility and reducing file sizes on servers. Users can now stream audio-only content, which is beneficial for music streaming or low-bandwidth scenarios like listening to conferences. Additionally, PeerTube can now ingest audio-only live streams, enabling live music streaming with an audio player.
The video download modal has been simplified, displaying essential information for each resolution and offering the option to include or exclude audio. Advanced options remain accessible. A new subtitle panel on the right side of the video player allows users to follow subtitles in real-time, click on sentences to return to specific sections, and search for words or phrases.
Additionally, administrators can now set up multiple proxies for youtube-dl, which PeerTube will randomly select to bypass certain restrictions.
This sounds rather curious... I wonder if I can make a playlist with 1h+ synthwave mixes and use Foobar2k on my phone to listen to those :O That'd be magic if it can happen
