Mullvad VPN introduces new “multihop” feature on iOS for increased privacy

Mullvad, the company known for Mullvad VPN and Mullvad Browser, has introduced a new feature in its iOS app (version 2024.5 and newer) to enhance user privacy.

The latest update allows users to route their traffic through two servers instead of just one. This multihop feature enables a tunnel within a tunnel, connecting to any destination server via any entry server.

By selecting servers in different jurisdictions or from various hosting providers, users can make data collection more challenging for adversaries. However, this increased privacy might come at the cost of degraded performance, depending on the server locations.
