Cap v0.3.0 released with video editing, a new screenshots feature & quick sharing settings

Cap v0.3.0 has been released after four months of public beta testing, featuring a complete rebuild One of the major additions is video editing, allowing users to trim and customize recordings with padding and backgrounds, making it beginner-friendly.

The update focuses on a local-first approach, improving privacy and performance by processing recordings and edits directly on users' devices. The user interface has been redesigned with a modern look, and a new quick sharing option, enabling users to generate shareable links for their recordings with a single click. Users can now also take desktop screenshots and share them instantly.

Looking ahead, the team plans to develop Cap AI for automatic video descriptions and titles, along with features like password-protected videos, custom domains, and embeddable videos. Future integrations with tools like Slack and Discord will enhance team sharing, and upcoming enhancements will include a screenshot editor and an automatic zoom/pan function to highlight critical content.
