App in the Air to shut down on September 19, 2024; users advised to export their data now

App in the Air, a personal travel assistant platform that provided real-time flight status updates, navigation maps, flight profiles, and more, has announced it will cease operations on September 19, 2024. From that date, the app will no longer be available on the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Samsung Galaxy Store. Users have until October 19, 2024, to access and export their data. To do so, open the app, go to the Profile tab, access Settings, scroll to the Other section, and select Export Data to receive your information via email.

After October 19, 2024, user data will be handled according to the app's privacy policy, which may involve retention or deletion. Existing air and hotel bookings, travel insurance policies, and e-SIM data will remain valid. Users who recently purchased subscriptions might be eligible for a refund through the respective app stores, with specific refund processes outlined by Apple, Google, and Samsung.

The company suggests TripIt as a good alternative for travel planning with itinerary organization, flight alerts, and airport maps. Additionally, a special offer for former App in the Air users is available on TripIt’s website. However, it may be worth considering other more comprehensive travel planners like Tripsy, which recently had its biggest update to date.

MyFlightLife has introduced a new feature that allows users to import their flight data directly into the app. Users can upload their exported TXT files, and MyFlightLife will add the flight details to their account automatically. No changes to the file are needed, making it an easy way to transfer their flight history.
