TikTok introduces Group Chats for up to 32 users with age restrictions and safety features
TikTok has announced the introduction of Group Chats, a feature that has been widely requested by users, enabling them to watch videos collectively and interact in real time with up to 32 participants per group. This new functionality aims to enhance the platform's social and interactive elements, allowing users to create dedicated groups for sharing and discussing their favorite videos, thereby fostering a more connected community experience.
The Group Chat feature comes with age-specific restrictions. Users aged 13 to 15 cannot access Group Chats, while those aged 16 and 17 can join but only through friends and with approval for new members. Additionally, older teens need at least one mutual friend in a group to join. TikTok has also implemented user control and safety measures, such as muting, blocking, and reporting messages or entire chats that violate Community Guidelines. The update also introduces custom stickers in Direct Messages, enhancing communication options on the platform.
