Instagram to introduce real-time Spotify integration for automatic music sharing as notes
Instagram may soon roll out a real-time Spotify integration feature, allowing users to automatically share their current Spotify tracks as Notes on the platform. This potential development was uncovered by mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi, who found evidence of the feature in Instagram’s code.
The integration would enable songs played on Spotify to automatically generate Notes on Instagram, which would be visible at the top of users' inboxes and alongside their profile pictures, while allowing users to opt-out if they prefer not to share their music activity. Currently, Instagram users can manually add Spotify tracks to their Notes or Stories, but this new feature would automate the process.
This mirrors Spotify's existing integration with Discord, where users can share their real-time listening activity (and also recalls one of the most popular features from the long-defunct Windows Live Messenger). Additionally, Instagram recently introduced a feature allowing users to pin theme song fragments to their profiles, indicating a broader trend of incorporating music more deeply into the platform.
