Instagram introduces new feature to add theme song fragments to user profiles
Instagram is introducing a new feature allowing users to add a song to their profiles. This feature will be available starting Thursday, with a special preview of Sabrina Carpenter's new single "Taste" available on her profile.
The new option allows users to enhance their profile by adding a song that appears below their bio, evoking a nostalgic resemblance to the Myspace era, though unlike Myspace, the songs don't autoplay when someone visits the profile. This feature is exclusive to the mobile app for now, and to add a song, users simply go to their profile, tap "edit profile," and select the "Music" option to search for and add a song. Instagram suggests a 30-second clip, which can be customized by adjusting the selector.
Users can also edit or remove the song at any time by revisiting the "edit profile" section or tapping on the song on their profile. the company says this new feature aims to provide a more personalized way for users to present themselves, and of course, it should be especially useful for artists as well.
