Google tests new Android search widget with dynamic color, drops customization options

Google is testing a redesigned Search widget for Android in the latest Google app beta update, version 15.30.x. The new design incorporates Dynamic Color support, automatically aligning the widget’s colors with the system theme. However, this redesign removes the ability to customize the Google logo and search bar shape, options currently available in the existing widget.

The current version allows users to adjust the logo, search bar shape, and transparency, with granular controls for hue and saturation. This new version of the widget also introduces a Device color theme that adjusts based on the device’s theme, while retaining the System, Light, and Dark color themes, along with an adjustable transparency slider. The default design features the G logo and a pill-shaped search bar.

As this redesign is still in beta, further changes are possible before a wider rollout, and there remains a slim chance that customization options for the logo and bar shape might return in future updates.
