Google Lens is adding a "Speak Now" feature for enhanced image search with audio context
Google Lens is reportedly introducing a new feature called "Speak now to ask about this image," enabling users to add audio context to their searches by recording a video. This feature allows users to refine search results more effectively by incorporating relevant audio, and it is currently being rolled out widely for Android users across various devices.
The new "Speak now to ask about this image" feature aims to enhance Multisearch by allowing context to be added during the search process itself. When using Google Lens, users will notice the search icon glowing and animating to draw attention, accompanied by a tooltip explaining the "search with voice" feature. By pressing and holding the search button, users can record a video with audio context, which will be factored into the search results.
Android expert Mishaal Rahman demonstrated this feature on X, showing how the added audio context is incorporated into search results. Users should ensure they have the latest version of the Google app and Google Lens on their Android devices to access this feature, which may still be rolling out via a server-side update.
