Bluesky introduces new 'Anti-Toxic' features including reply hiding & notification filters
Bluesky has released version 1.90, introducing new "Anti-Toxic" features to manage online interactions. Users can now view all quote posts related to a specific post and detach their original post from any quote post to prevent harassment. This detachment is public via the Bluesky API. Additionally, users can hide replies to their posts behind a "Hidden replies" screen; only the original thread creator can hide replies, and this action is also public.
The update includes priority notification filters, allowing users to receive notifications only from people they follow, which simplifies management for large followings. Replies in the Following feed are now limited to conversations between followed users, and replying to an older thread will bump it to the top of followers' feeds. Blocks applied to user lists will filter out blocked users from any lists created by the blocker, although this does not apply to moderation lists.
Bluesky plans to update its policies regarding list titles and descriptions with more aggressive labeling. Additionally, Bluesky is considering implementing a Community Notes-like feature to address misinformation, similar to features on platforms like X and the one recently implemented by YouTube.
