AltStore PAL drops €1.50 fee for EU users, thanks to Epic Games MegaGrant

AltStore PAL has removed its €1.50 annual subscription fee for users in the EU, thanks to a MegaGrant from Epic Games. This grant will cover Apple's Core Technology Fee (CTF), which AltStore PAL previously paid based on user count. The elimination of the fee is expected to broaden AltStore PAL’s user base by making it more accessible to EU residents.

The change comes in response to the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which requires Apple to support third-party app stores in the EU. While Apple introduced the CTF to discourage developers from using unofficial app marketplaces, AltStore PAL continues to offer a range of apps, including those that do not comply with Apple's App Store guidelines, such as torrenting tools.

Current subscribers will have their yearly memberships automatically canceled upon expiration, with no additional charges. The platform also plans to reward existing subscribers with a future update, although details on these rewards are yet to be revealed.
