Spotify launches Podcast Commenting Feature, giving creators control over visibility

Spotify is introducing a new feature that allows users to leave comments on podcast episodes. Listeners can access the comment section by scrolling past the play controls or navigating to the episode page. Initially, all comments will be private by default, allowing creators to control their visibility.

Creators have the ability to publish or unpublish any comments on their podcast page and can manage them on a per-episode basis or opt out of the feature entirely. The updated Spotify for Creators app enables all creators to oversee comments, regardless of their hosting platform, while also providing notifications for new comments and show milestones to keep creators informed about listener interactions. Additionally, the app offers audience analytics and insights, helping creators understand their audience better. Those not hosted on Spotify for Podcasters need to claim their show through the app to access comment management features.

This move strengthens Spotify's position as a competitor to YouTube in terms of creator-listener interactions, aligning with its ongoing expansion into video podcasts, and it is available starting today.
