Microsoft to phase out Mail and Calendar apps in favor of new Outlook by end of 2024

Microsoft is currently transitioning to its new Outlook app as the primary email solution within Windows 11. This change will replace the older Outlook app and existing email-handling applications, including the default Microsoft Mail and Calendar. The company has confirmed that the Mail and Calendar apps will be phased out by the end of 2024, with a forced transition starting for Windows 11 users.

As part of this transition, Microsoft is gradually moving the switch-back option to the Settings app of Outlook. When enabled, this option allows users to revert to Mail and Calendar only “temporarily”, indicating that the toggle will eventually be removed, along with the Mail and Calendar app itself.

For a free account, outlook was polluted with ads. It can be confusing to identify an ad and a real mail ! 🤢
