Linux Mint 22 “Wilma” beta has been released, offering long term support until 2029. This version is powered by Linux Kernel 6.8 and Ubuntu 24.04, and introduces PipeWire as the default sound server. It features Cinnamon 6.2 as the desktop environment, bringing numerous new features and improvements.

Key updates include better language support, support for the new Debian DEB822 format, JXL support, and enhanced HiDPI support. Themes have been updated for GTK4 compatibility. Thunderbird remains available as a native .deb package, despite Ubuntu's shift to Snap. Unverified Flatpaks are disabled by default.

The release also includes various software updates, new wallpapers, and a range of enhancements and bug fixes.
