Home Assistant 2024.7 brings enhanced voice control, custom dashboards & new integrations

The Home Assistant 2024.7 release brings a host of new features and improvements, including significant enhancements to the Assist feature, such as the introduction of timers for voice control, allowing users to create, cancel, pause, resume, and adjust timers using voice commands. Additionally, scripts can now be exposed to large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT and Google Gemini.

Dashboard customization has received a major upgrade with a new slider interface for resizing cards, available under the Layout tab in the card editing menu. This feature supports drag-and-drop functionality and includes built-in minimum and maximum sizes for most cards. Users can easily revert to the original card sizes using a dedicated button. Data tables have also been improved, enabling users to customize columns by toggling visibility and changing their order, with these settings preserved for future visits.

New integrations have been added, such as Aquacell for monitoring water-softeners, ista EcoTrend for importing consumption data, Mealie for meal planning, and Knocki for turning surfaces into remote controls.
