Visual Studio Code 1.90 released with multi-select tabs, improved GitHub Copilot, and more

Microsoft has released Visual Studio Code version 1.90 for May 2024, introducing several noteworthy features aimed at enhancing productivity and functionality. Key highlights include the ability to multi-select editor tabs, allowing users to perform actions on multiple tabs simultaneously. The new Profiles feature lets users open new windows with their preferred settings.

Editor actions have been streamlined for immediate access across editor groups. The Copilot extensibility feature now enables developers to build AI into their extensions using the Chat and Language Model API. Additionally, VS Code Speech can automatically read out Copilot Chat responses with text-to-speech.

Other updates include the ability to restrict searches to selected cells in notebooks, enhanced chat context attachment options, and improved IntelliSense in chat responses for better understanding of generated code. This release also brings improved support for the upcoming TypeScript 5.5 release, along with various other enhancements and bug fixes.
