Threads, a Slack alternative, not the one from Meta, has been acquired by Shopify

Threads (not the one from Meta), a workplace communication platform and alternative to Slack, has been acquired by Shopify, the renowned e-commerce platform.

The Threads team revealed that the rise of Threads (from Meta) led them to consider selling their domains. Concurrently, several companies expressed interest in acquiring Threads, prompting the team to contemplate rebranding due to potential confusion with Meta's Threads. Ultimately, they decided to join Shopify, excited about the opportunity to innovate at scale.

Current Threads users will have access to their accounts until June 17, 2024. Account administrators can export organizational data in JSON format before customer data deletion begins on June 18, 2024.
