ONLYOFFICE 8.1 launched: Major upgrades in PDF Editing, Forms, & 30+ new Features

ONLYOFFICE Docs 8.1 introduces significant upgrades across its suite of editors, including a revamped PDF Editor that now supports text editing, page manipulation, and object insertion such as tables, shapes, text boxes, images, TextArt, hyperlinks, and equations. The new annotating capabilities feature a mini-toolbar for text comments and callouts, with options for easy comment removal via the context menu.

The update also marks a complete transition to PDF forms, eliminating the DOCXF format, and enabling users to create and fill out complex forms online through both web and desktop apps. Enhancements in the Document Editor include the ability to apply background colors to pages, customize page numbering formats, and switch between Editing, Reviewing, and Viewing modes without disrupting co-authors.

Spreadsheet improvements include restricted viewing of cells in protected ranges, highlighting changes in Version History, and the introduction of new functions like GETPIVOTDATA and IMPORTRANGE. Users can now insert custom functions and manage sheets between workbooks within a single browser. The Presentation Editor now features the Slide Master for consistent slide layouts and an Animation pane for timeline effects.

General upgrades across all editors include new shadow settings for shapes, an extended set of color schemes, enhanced RTL support, and new localization options for languages like Bengali, Sinhala, and Serbian – Cyrillic.
