Anthropic launches Claude 3.5 Sonnet, competing with GPT-4o and Gemini 1.5
Anthropic has unveiled Claude 3.5 Sonnet, the first release in the Claude 3.5 model family. According to Anthropic, Claude 3.5 Sonnet sets new benchmarks for intelligence, surpassing both competitor models and its predecessor, Claude 3 Opus, in a variety of evaluations. The model offers enhanced capabilities in understanding nuance, humor, and complex instructions, and excels at producing high-quality, relatable content.
Claude 3.5 Sonnet operates at double the speed of Claude 3 Opus and, according to Anthropic, matches or outperforms models like GPT-4o and Gemini 1.5 Pro on benchmarks such as MMLU, GSM8K, and HumanEval. Additionally, Anthropic has introduced Artifacts, a new feature in the Claude interface that displays related work documents in a dedicated window.
Claude 3.5 Sonnet is now available for free on the Claude website and iOS app, with higher rate limits for Claude Pro and Team plan subscribers. The model is also accessible via the Anthropic API, Amazon Bedrock, and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI. Pricing is set at $3 per million input tokens and $15 per million output tokens, with a 200K token context window.

Impressive. I sort of liked the supremacy of GPT-4 because then I didn't have to guess which product to use to get the best results. GPT-5 is in training, which should surpass Sonnet 3.5, but maybe it won't surpass the upcoming Opus 3.5. How will I handle my monthly AI memerships in the future to get the best results?
