Wine 9.9 includes Wow64 mode, improved ARM support, and drops obsolete WineD3D features

Wine, the widely used compatibility layer enabling Windows applications to run on Linux, macOS, and BSD systems, has just unveiled its latest update, version 9.9.

In this new release, Wine introduces support for the Wow64 mode in Open Database Connectivity (ODBC), expanding its compatibility capabilities. The update also brings improvements to CPU detection on ARM platforms, enhancing the application's overall performance on these systems.

Alongside these additions, version 9.9 sees the removal of several obsolete features in WineD3D, streamlining the software and focusing on its core functionalities. The update is also packed with minor enhancements and a variety of bug fixes, addressing issues identified in previous versions.

Users can update to Wine 9.9 from their installed version, or they can download the new release from the official Wine website or their usual package manager.
