Microsoft plans to include upcoming Call of Duty game in Xbox Game Pass, says report
Microsoft is reportedly intending to include the upcoming Xbox Game Pass game in its Xbox Game Pass subscription service, according to a Wall Street Journal report. The announcement is expected to be made at the Xbox game showcase on June 9th. In the past, Microsoft was hesitant to include new Call of Duty games in the Game Pass due to worries about potential revenue loss from traditional sales, as Activision typically sells these games for around $70, often selling over 20 million copies.
The Wall Street Journal has not clarified if there will be extra costs for accessing Call of Duty through the Game Pass. It is also unclear if the Game Pass Ultimate subscription fee will rise due to the addition of this game, although it is likely that the company has been contemplating an increase in price or the creation of a new tier, especially now that such high-value games will be included.
The next Call of Duty game is slated for a late October release, with speculation that the game will be set during the 1990s Gulf War. A special Call of Duty event is set to follow the main event as part of the Xbox summer showcase.
