Freepik acquires AI image upscaler Magnific in strategic move towards AI expansion

The stock image bank and design platform Freepik has acquired Spanish AI image upscaler, Magnific AI, marking a significant move towards AI expansion. Based in Spain, Magnific has quickly gained over 725,000 registered users with its concept of "reimagined upscaling" that enhances image quality and resolution, similar to other well-know alternatives like Upscayl or Topaz Gigapixel.

Magnific's co-founders, Javi López and Emilio Nicolás, are optimistic about the acquisition due to shared values and the potential for accelerated growth through collaboration with Freepik, while Freepik CEO, Joaquín Cuenca Abela, highlights the synergy between Magnific's AI and Freepik's tools, emphasizing a mutual goal of AI-driven innovation and global growth.
