Stripe boosts Payments Interoperability, adds AI Features and reintroduces Crypto Payments
The leading financial services and payment gateway provider Stripe recently announced significant changes to expand its payment processing tools' accessibility. The company unveiled over 50 updates at a recent San Francisco event, including plans to make its products available to other payment providers.
Previously, using most of Stripe's products required processing payments exclusively through Stripe. The company has now removed these limitations, allowing other payment processors to use tools such as Optimized Checkout Suite, Stripe Billing, and Stripe Radar. This move towards interoperability aims to accommodate businesses bound by contracts with rival companies and encourage a more varied payments ecosystem.
The company has also revealed its plans to reintroduce crypto payments, via Circle's USDC stablecoin, on the Solana, Ethereum, and Polygon blockchains. This move comes after Stripe halted crypto payments in 2018 due to the high volatility of Bitcoin. Those interested in trying out this new implementation can join the waitlist here.
Alongside increasing its product accessibility and bringing back Cryto Payments, Stripe also launched several AI tools at the event, including AI-powered fraud detection features and improvements to the Optimized Checkout Suite. These AI enhancements aim to enhance security, streamline checkout processes, and improve the overall user experience for businesses using Stripe's services.
