Facebook Messenger now supports HD photos, shared albums, and large file transfers
Meta has begun the deployment of several new features to enhance its Messenger service. These updates aim to improve the quality of interactions and sharing capabilities within the platform.
The first feature allows users to send high-definition (HD) photos in chats. To do this, users select an image from their chat composer, turn on the HD toggle, and tap Send. This process can be repeated to send multiple HD photos at once.
A new album creation feature has also been introduced, enabling users to organize and share collections of photos and videos. Users can create a new album in a group chat by selecting multiple photos from their chat composer and tapping 'Create album'. Existing albums can be updated by tapping 'Add to album'. All members of the chat can view, add to, delete from, and download content from these albums. This feature will become available over the next few weeks.
In terms of connectivity, users can now initiate conversations by scanning a Messenger QR code or sharing their own via a link. This can be done by going to Settings, tapping the QR code icon, and either scanning a code with the device's camera or sharing a link.
Lastly, the new update eliminates the need for email or services like WeTransfer when sending large files. Users can share files up to 100 MB directly in a Messenger chat. This feature supports all major file formats, including PDF, Word, and Excel. Users simply tap the '+' button and select the file they wish to share.
