Ente releases desktop version Ente Auth's open-source authenticator app

Ente has released a desktop version of its Ente Auth software, an open-source two-factor authentication (2FA) solution similar to Authy, which announced it would stop supporting its desktop applications in 2024 a few months back.

The new Ente Auth desktop client is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux. For Linux, users can download the .deb file for Ubuntu-based distributions or the .rpm file for Fedora-based distributions. The Windows version also comes with some interesting features like Windows Hello integration. Apart from the desktop version, Ente also offers a web version of their Authenticator launched last year, for those who prefer online testing.

The new desktop software can be downloaded and tested from their GitHub page. For those looking for other alternatives to Authy with desktop support, KeePassXC is another viable option with both desktop and mobile applications available.

ente Authenticator is an app designed to generate and store 2-step verification (2FA) tokens on mobile devices. It places a strong emphasis on privacy and employs end-to-end encryption. Its standout features include two-factor authentication. When seeking alternatives, users often consider Aegis Authenticator, Authy, and andOTP.

I'll stick with Bitwarden, but I am a huge fan of their work.

today I finally purchased Bitwarden's premium plan and started migrating all my 2FA to it. I trust them.
