Nintendo has won once again: Yuzu and Citra emulators are being discontinued immediately
Last week we reported that Nintendo was filing a lawsuit against the creators of Yuzu, a well-known Nintendo Switch emulator, alleging they have facilitated mass piracy of many of their products. Today, the official announcement has been made that the Yuzu team has agreed to settle the case by paying $2.4 million to Nintendo and has been permanently prohibited from further development, hosting, or distribution of Yuzu and its code under the settlement.
The agreement stipulates that Yuzu will surrender its domain name to Nintendo and delete all copies of Yuzu and any tools linked to the emulator's development or use. To add to this, the settlement also impacts the well-known Nintendo 3DS emulator Citra, which was also under the same management as Yuzu, affecting both emulation tools. The Yuzu and Citra developers are required to hand over any physical devices and modified Nintendo hardware that violate Nintendo's copyright protection. After the settlement, the Yuzu team announced the immediate discontinuation of both Yuzu and Citra.
The developers clarified that their original intention was not to support piracy but to express their passion for Nintendo's games and consoles. They admitted, however, that their projects led to widespread piracy, including leaks of pre-release game content, and decided to cease their activities to prevent further harm. Post-settlement, the source code for both Yuzu and Citra has been removed from GitHub.

I am happy to not even be a fan of Nintendo games as I don't have to be sad because the Yuzu emulator is discountinued, and as I never gave even a cent to a company so much driven by its desire for more money
There were so good at their work... this is unfortunate. I have grown with Nintendo licences, the N64, the gameboys, the gamecube, the DS, the Wii, the 3DS and now the switch are part of the console I passed so much time on it. Buying their hardware and games. I never felt guilty when emulating Mario Galaxy as it provide me a better experience than original. Never felt bad for the new Zelda games as emulation on my PC provided me a better experience. But now I don't want to buy their games and hardware. If my money ends up in court case for Nintendo to try to kill emulation and homebrew this is a no go for me. I'm done with you Nintendo ! I won't feel guilty pirating your next pokemon game or mario... Just because of your stupid decisions ! I thought you were happy with the sales of the switch but looks like you always want more...
