Threads launches 'Trending' feature in the US, showcasing today's popular topics
Threads is launching a new 'Trending' feature in the US, which will showcase a list of popular topics currently being discussed on the platform, similar to Trending Topics from X. The feature, unveiled by Meta's CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Instagram's CEO Adam Mosseri on Threads, will be available on both the search page and the For You feed within Threads to help users discover timely topics of conversation.
Topics will be determined by AI algorithms measuring user interactions, and then reviewed by Threads' content specialists for accuracy and relevance, including political trends. The final interface for Trending has been slightly altered from a previously leaked version, no longer showing the number of posts within each thread.
Initially, the feature will be available to a select group of US users. Feedback will be gathered and improvements made before the feature is expanded to other regions and languages.
