PeaZip 9.7 launches with native support for ARM64 Linux and dark mode for Windows
PeaZip, the open-source file archiver utility, has launched its 9.7 version, incorporating several new functionalities, enhancements, and bug fixes. One of the significant updates is the native support for AArch64 (ARM64) Linux systems. The application now offers ready-to-use builds for both GTK and Qt variants.
The 9.7 version has also improved the scripting generation engine. In the Console tab of archiving and extraction screens, a new option is available for the scripting engine to use strdin/stdout pipe for creating and extracting compressed TAR archives. This eliminates the need to save an intermediate TAR file on disk during these operations. However, this feature is limited to scripts generated by the application and does not apply to the GUI app itself. The feature is only applicable to formats handled through the 7z / p7zip backend.
PeaZip 9.7 has also introduced support for Dark Mode on Windows 10 and newer systems. The application continues to support classic dark themes/high contrast mode on all Windows systems. The vertical tabs in the Options screen are now themed in line with the theme's tab style.
Additionally, the latest version also comes with support for Brotli 1.1.0 and Zstd 1.5.5 backends. It allows users to toggle the smart filename sorting in the file browser. The 9.7 version also improves the loading of translations and resolves a Qt5 selection issue.
